Incombustible Remains – book

Incombustible Remains – book

Written in Danish language

“When Darkthrone played a concert in Esbjerg in 1990” is the subtitle of the book “Incombustible Remains”. However, it is not only the story of one of the legendary Norwegian cult band Darkthrone’s few concerts ever. But also about a new extreme musical subculture – death metal – that really began to sprout in Denmark at that time, and especially in the town of Esbjerg, of all places.

“Incombustible Remains” is a small story of one of the early times death metal came to Denmark, told by the bands that participated. A genre that in the years that followed, grew big and where bands like Morbid Angel, Deicide and Cannibal Corpse sold hundreds of thousands of albums. The genre is still alive and well. But at this time – in 1990 – death metal was still pure underground, and especially in Denmark where there was only a small but growing dedicated environment. And especially Esbjerg, Denmark in the early 90’s was probably the most important Danish city within the genre, when both new bands and concerts with international death metal names emerged.

On June 8, 1990, Norwegian Darkthrone played at Tobakken in Esbjerg, Denmark – one of the very few concerts of their career, and the warm-up consisted of the debuting Danish death metal band Maceration with members from i.a. Invocator.

Both concerts were recorded and released, and the story of that evening is at the same time a small story about the contemporary Danish metal scene and the international underground environment with demo tapes, tape-trading and DIY spirit.

“Incombustible Remains” is written by the Danish author Benni Bødker, who has interviewed several of the people who were with that evening, including Jacob Hansen and Jakob Schultz from Maceration / Invocator, who arranged the concert. And not least Dag Nilsen, who was the bassist in Darkthrone at the time, and who has not given interviews since he left the band after the recording of “A Blaze In The Northern Sky” (1992). At that time in 1990, Darkthrone had not yet released the debut album “Soulside Journey” (1991), which today is considered a classic in death metal. As everyone knows Darkthrone changed style to black metal in 1991, and in 1992 released “A Blaze In The Northern Sky”, which became a milestone in black metal and as part of the infamous Norwegian black metal scene.

The book also contains not previously published live photos of Darkthrone from the concert, which Kennie Bendixen Deigaard shot on the evening, and which he has kindly made available for the book.

“Incombustible Remains” are also illustrated with flyers, concert posters and demo tape covers from the period.

The book is 64 pages long, written in Danish language – with a foreword by Michael H. Andersen – and also includes the CD “Live Disfigurements” with Maceration, which contains the recording of their concert from the June evening in 1990.

“Incombustible Remains – When Darkthrone played a concert in Esbjerg in 1990” is published by Emanzipation Productions, and will be released on December 10, 2021.

The book is printed in 666 hand-numbered copies, and the first 66,6 copies that are pre-ordered will be signed by author Benni Bødker.

INTROTYL

INTROTYL

“Introtyl” is composed of the words “In” & “trotyl” (Trinitrotoluene, TNT) meaning “To be inside dynamite”. Composed only by women, the Mexican band started to performing shows in 2010 with a little set of four original songs and three covers (“Bolt Thrower’s “Cenotaph”, Hypocrisy’s “Killin’Art” & Napalm Death’s “Unnecessary Evil). While composing and recording their first demo, the girls began to play concerts through Mexico in many cities in late 2011, all of them crowded and from then on- sharing the stage with many Mexican bands but also international bands such as Severe Torture, Unleash The Archers, Gorguts, Nervosa, Jungle Rot, Cattle Decapitation Suffocation, etc. In 2011 the first demo was released while the girls were already working on new songs and finally, in 2013, a debut album (“Several Sates Of Violence”) was recorded and released.

Even if Introtyl had several lineup changes, causing some delays in their next releases (two EPs released in 2014 and 2017), in 2018 the band worked hard focusing on the international market. In January 2018, their second album “Creation of Insanity” was recorded and released in Mexico City in July with a sold-out show. The band was invited to the Canadian fest“Trois Rivieres Metal Fest” and, once again, shared the stage with international bands, having a great acceptance and consolidated as a “Revelation band of the fest 2018”, according to TRMF press and fans.

Since August 2018 Introtyl covered tour dates between Mexico, United States (Chicago & New York) and toured once again in November to Canada with Exotoxic, having around 11 tour dates from Ontario to New Scotland with big success because of the fan base they have reached.

During the pandemic, Introtyl continued to play festivals in Mexico whenever it was possible, consolidating their strong presence in the Mexican death metal scene due their long path, music and quality performs. Now, a new chapter for the Mexican girls opens, with a new record deal signed with Danish underground extreme metal label Emanzipation Productions.

Corpse Vomit

Corpse Vomit

In 1999 the world was a whole different place from what it is today. Amidst kids robbing each others’ Pokemon cards and Harry Potter popularity explosion, there was a whole dark cloud gathering (just think George W. Bush announced his presidential run on that year), which made people have a total over the Y2K bug and the predictions of the world ending in 2000. The world was also changing, as we were shifting from VHS tapes to DVD format and downloading songs on Napster without understanding the ramifications. In a nutshell, it was the right timing for an album like Corpse Vomit’s “Drowning In Puke”.

In that same year, a group of Danish underground musicians got together to record one of the most outrageous and shocking death metal records ever produced. With song titles such as “Reeking Cunt” or “Rotten Fetus” and a cover artwork that simply wouldn’t survive today’s political correctness of social media, “Drowning In Puke” was a fat death metal album, with just the right balance of fast parts, morbid slow parts and growling vokills. In a time when everyone was amazed just how Cannibal Corpse was shocking the censors in Germany, Corpse Vomit did, in their only album, what is probably the most radical and extreme musical/artwork/lyrics package in death metal history.

In 2021, Molesting Mike got released from jail and immediately plotted a deluxe reissue of “Drowning In Puke”, which is out now in LP for the first time – in piss, shit and blood/sperm coloured vinyls, each limited to 100 units – as well as digipack CD. Remastered at Angioni Studios.

Rumours have it that Molesting Mike is working on new music…

PANZERCHRIST

PANZERCHRIST

Panzerchrist was formed in 1993 by Michael Enevoldsen, which by that time was leaving his role as Illdisposed drummer. Precise as a clock, the band released their first two albums every three years- in 1996 and 1999 – until they hit gold with a record deal signed with Mighty Music and two of their most successful albums ever: “Soul Collector” in 2000 and “Room Service” in 2003.

Amidst a constant lineup change (which saw Enevoldsen himself switch from drums to keyboards and later to bass) and which transformed Panzerchrist in a global stage for the best musicians in the Danish metal scene, the band released their fifth opus, “Batallion Bwast”, in 2006, before singing to French label Listenable Records, through which they released the latest two studio albums.

In the Autumn of 2021, the band re-released the cult album “Soul Collector” on CD and – for the first time ever – on vinyl, in a limited collectors edition. Three different vinyls colours – red, yellow and black – each limited to 100 units. The sound was remastered at Angioni Studios.
